Sierra Leone News: SLCB supports flying baby to Ghana for head surgery

Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB), last weekend, at the PCMH Ola During Hospital Conference room, donated $4,000 USD to support surgery on a baby, Mariama Sesay, to correct her swollen head, which was growing at an abnormal rate. The surgical operation will be performed in one of Ghana’s specialist hospitals. During the presentation, the little girl’s mother, with senior nurses and doctors, the head of Paediatrics, Dr. Bell expressed delight at the gesture of the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank. Moses Sesay, Director of Business Development, SLCB, said they were delighted to help support the medical fees of baby Mariama because of their belief in saving the lives of young children who are the future leaders of the country. Dr. Bell noted the targeted amount for the surgery is $20,000 USD. He said they are 75% to their target. He expressed hope that the remaining amount would be obtained so that the girl can fly to Ghana for the surgery. Mammy Betts, a Consultant Nurse at the hospital, said she hopes the little girl will have a successful operation but more money was needed to send the girl to Ghana.
