Sierra Leone News: Africell joins OBBA to celebrate 90th Anniversary

Africell mobile network operator has joined the Old Bo Boys Association (OBBA) in celebrating their 90th anniversary in Sierra Leone. According to the National Publicity Secretary of OBBA, Cyrus Sheriff, this is not the first time that they have received support from the management of Africell. He added that Africell has been very supportive to their school. He went on to say that in marking their 90th anniversary, Africell has consented to support their dinner and awards ceremony, which he described as a very important component of their celebrations. He added that the award ceremony itself is geared towards appreciating deserving members of OBBA that are contributing immensely in enhancing the activities of the Association. “The intervention of Africell mobile company towards OBBA is unique,” said Sheriff, adding that by extension Africell is supporting their school project. He went on to say that this year they are honouring academic excellence, with celebrated columnist, Sama Banya to serve as keynote speaker. He highlighted other events such as Family Walk, Friday Juma Prayers, Prize Giving Ceremony and Reunion Night that they will be holding to commemorate Bo school’s anniversary. He said that their activities are geared towards keeping and upholding the tradition of the school. “The tradition of the school makes OBBA enviable; I am calling on well-wishers to patronize with us so as to make the entire celebration a resounding success. On behalf of the Old Boys I am appealing to all to support us towards the infrastructural development of the school.” Africell Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shadi Al-Gerjawi said they are very keen on supporting education and supporting OBBA as well as the school gives them that sense of responsibility to help Sierra Leone grow. He said education is the key to success and Africell would always be part of Sierra Leone success because when President Bio launched the Free and Quality Education, Africell wasted no time to give its support to the project that they will continue to support in years to come. CEO Shadi congratulated OBBA for their 90th anniversary celebrations in producing so many quality people that have made impact in the country’s development. “Wherever education is mentioned, Africell will be there to make sure that pupils and students receive it with less stress and become better people in society that will help change the face of Sierra Leone in the future.”
