Sierra Leone Sports: 19 years of jogging for Jesus

On Saturday 20 April 2019, Sports Life Int. and Commercial Bank came together to celebrate 19 years of jogging for Jesus events. According to Ibrahim Okon Koroma, this year, more sporting disciplines came to join the jogging such as the Cycling Association. Joggers from the East of Freetown started at the Annie Walsh School and western joggers started at the Collegiate School. The event ended at St. Edward’s Secondary School. At St. Edward’s, the CEO of Sports Life Int., Yatta Samura, said Jogging for Jesus started in 2000 and from that point to now a lot of people have been blessed. He stated that next year they will celebrate 20 years of jogging in a grand style.  The youngest jogger was 10-year old, Desmond Sesay. He said he was happy to come along with his dad to this year’s jogging. He said he wants to jog again next year.  S.L.Commercial Bank were the main sponsors of this year’s jogging. Shuaib Kamara, of the S.L.C.B, said they decided to come on board to give back to the community as sports is something they have always contributed to.   He revealed that they will soon start a new product, which is the visa card, which you will use in any part of the world to access bank accounts. The Chair of Sports Life Int., Oseh J Willams said, “We approached a lot of companies and banks but only the Commercial Bank came on board.” He said they are trying to take the jogging to other parts of the country. Kadiatu Kamara said jogging with fellow Sierra Leoneans helped her praise God and is good exercise. She said she would like to be part of the jogging next year as well.
