Sierra Leone Sports: Team BVB Sierra Leone wins third match in Abuja

Team BVB Sierra Leone won their third and last pool match against Benin in the on-going CAVB CAN 2019 in Abuja. The team is now one match away from the FIVB World Championships in Hamburg, Germany later in the year. The Secretary General of the Association, Ahmed Khanou, said the next stop is Team Mauritius. The Indian Island nation has come a long way in the last two years since their visit to Sierra Leone during the Commonwealth BVB Qualification tournament. Just missing out to the eventual winners, Sierra Leone, during the Semis of that event. This is an opportunity for revenge for them. Given their performance here in Abuja, having scraped through, edging out West African counterparts, Ghana, through the head to head principle, anything can happen. But team BVB Sierra Leone says they are ready to do battle and make Salone proud. The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation Engineer Musa Nimrod who doubles as president of Beach Volleyball expressed the readiness of his Federation to host the championship. He said, “I want to assure the world that we are ready to host the 2019 Africa Nations Beach Volleyball Championships seniors for both men and women. Due to ‘force majure’ in Algeria who were to host the championships, three weeks ago, CAVB called on Nigeria to step in and host. So we are determined to host hitch-free championships. “All logistics for the events have been put in place. We won’t let down CAVB who have reposed so much confidence in us,” he assured.
