Sierra Leone Sports: Young Stars to battle Super Six for WAVA Championship

The Western Area Volleyball Association (WAVA) Championship has reached its final stage. Both male and female teams of Young Stars will play the Super Six teams on the same day at the national stadium. Coach Ibrahim T. Koroma, from the Young Star side, said wining the trophy this year is not going to be any surprise to the spectators because the team has been the champion for over five years now. He said the men and women have been training hard for the tournament to maintain their record in the club championship. “I have no doubts in my team,” he said. The female coach of Super Six, Abdul Razak Kamara, said this year’s Championship trophy is going to Super Six Volleyball Club in the east end of Freetown. He noted with or without their Guinean players, the team is going to win the trophy this year. Coach Razak emphasised that the two teams are going to training camp a week before the final in June as a way of preparing the minds of the players for victory. The Secretary for the WAVA organizing committee, Alusine Rahim, assured the public that the final is going to be the first of its kind, calling on the public to come out to the games to watch some great volleyball.
