Sierra Leone Sports: Kenema hosts Single Leg Amputee Championship 4th edition 18-24 May

The Fourth edition of the Single Leg Amputee Football Championship is slated for Kenema from the 18-24 of May. The Government provided Le169 million, which is the largest subvention in the 19-year history of the organization. The Public Relations Officer of the Single Leg Amputee football team, Albert Mustapha, said the Association is thrilled and they are going to make sure the competition is well organized and run efficiently. Mustapha revealed that five member clubs from Kailahun, Bo, Makeni, Kenema and Freetown will compete in the week long competition. The captain of the Freetown team, Dondor S. Marah, said they have prepared very well for the competition, as they are the defending champions. He said they won the championship three straight times and they going to win it for the fourth time. He said, “We were able to dominate the championship because we are focused and he revealed that he is also going to defend his best player trophy, which he won for three consecutive competitions. The President of SLASA, Jabati Mambu, said, “Football has the potential of being a viable podium for building up capacities of the youth into core human resources for the development of various communities and the country as a whole”. The league is a tool for community social development which is being implemented by Single Leg Amputee Sports Association.
