Sierra Leone News: Charges of wounding from co-tenant fight

Mariatu Kabia appeared before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie at the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 on Pademba Road in Freetown on Thursday 16 May 2019 after she allegedly wounding Zainab Sesay, her co-tenant on Passionage Street in Freetown.  Police allege that on Tuesday 4 September 2018, Kabia and Sesay got into a fight and Sesay was injured. Kabia was charged with wounding with intent. According to the witness and co-tenant, Yusuf Kargbo, he was standing in front of his apartment when he heard the landlady had invited all the women in the house to a meeting. After the meeting he noticed there was altercation between Kabia and Sesay.  Kabia allegedly took a big stick and hit Sesay on the head. Sesay also took the same stick attempting to hit Kabia but was unable to do so. Sesay reported the matter to the Police where she made a statement and the matter was charged to court.  ASP I.S. Mansaray prosecuted the matter and Magistrate Hannah Bonnie adjourned the matter to the 24 May 2019.
